Iran arrests dozens of people accused of being informants for Israel

Numerous reports from March 15, 2026, state that Iran has detained dozens of individuals on suspicion of spying for Israel. Twenty people were detained in northwest Iran on suspicion of providing Israel with the location of Iran's military and security assets, according to the semi-official Tasnim news agency. Ten more people were arrested in northeastern Iran for reportedly gathering intelligence on economic infrastructure and sensitive sites.

According to the Fars news agency, which quoted provincial prosecutor Hossein Majidi, the arrests occurred during operations on networks connected to Israel in the province of West Azerbaijan.It further stated that twenty individuals were apprehended and arrested after it was discovered that they were "sending details of military, law enforcement and security locations to the Zionist enemy."

Israel and the United States, according to a regional branch of the Revolutionary Guards' intelligence agency, are trying to invade Iran by using "mercenaries and spies" to stir up discontent. Israel is allegedly targeting security checkpoints based on tip-offs from sources on the ground, and the arrests occur in tandem with increased Israeli and American bombing throughout Iran. 

Furthermore, on March 10, Iran's Intelligence Ministry declared that 30 individuals had been detained for espionage, including a foreign national connected to the United States and Israel. The foreign national was accused of conducting operations on behalf of the United States and Israel and serving as a proxy for two Gulf nations.

Following Israeli and American strikes that murdered Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei on February 28, 2026, these events take place in the context of a further escalation in the conflict. 

Widespread anti-government demonstrations in Iran were put down in the deadliest crackdown in the Islamic Republic's history in January, only weeks before the United States and Israel began the present war against Iran.

Authorities have accused the United States and Israel of inciting "violent riots" with the intention of toppling the establishment.

A person who was allegedly providing information to Iran International, a TV channel based in London, was arrested on Sunday, according to the official IRNA news agency.

The person was utilising a Starlink terminal, a technology that is prohibited in Iran, according to the article, which cited the police chief of the northern Qazvin province.

Since the beginning of the Middle East conflict, Iran has been completely cut off from the outside world.


Some Iranians have used Starlink terminals from the US corporation SpaceX, which link to the internet via satellites, to circumvent those limitations.

Iran declared Iran International to be "affiliated with the Zionist regime" and banned interaction with the organization in January.
